Our Story & Why We Make British Stationery

Making Meadows was founded in 2019 by Samantha Marando, originally under the name Okey Dokey Design. Like any young business, we explored different products and designs, growing and evolving along the way. Through listening to our customers, we discovered a shared passion for nature, country living, and wildlife, which became the heart of our brand. In 2022, we embraced this focus with a name change to Making Meadows, along with a fresh website and exciting new products that truly reflect our values.

At Making Meadows, we believe in creating products that are as functional as they are beautiful. From writing paper and gifts to greeting cards, every item is designed with care and purpose. Many of our designs begin as hand-painted illustrations, often inspired by florals, woodland animals, and the beauty of nature, giving them a unique and special feel. Our goal is to craft high-quality stationery that brings joy to everyday moments.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We source paper from FSC-certified suppliers, use recycled kraft envelopes, and ensure all our packaging is 100% plastic-free. While we know we’re not perfect, we’re constantly striving to improve and reduce our environmental impact. Every product is designed, manufactured, and dispatched from our studio in Surrey, UK, where we meticulously check each order before shipping.

With a background in illustration and years of experience as a greeting card and product designer, Samantha turned her dream of owning a company into reality. Since 2019, Making Meadows has grown from a small selection of hand painted greeting cards to a diverse collection of eco-friendly stationery, premium wrapping paper and luxury writing paper.
